School Lanyards

 

 Lanyards is a device used to carry something. The object that is carried is usually a cell phone, an identity card, a key, a whistle or any other object. The main purpose of the lanyard is to make the wearer comfortable by sparing him the trouble of producing the relevant object for the purpose of using it or showing it for inspection.

 It also allows the hands to be free while working and also reduces the burden of having to carry the object. Lanyards comprise of a strap or cord that is wound round the neck and an attachment that secures the object to it.

 In case of an Identity card lanyard the same can also be attached to trouser pockets. Lanyards are used in many places like schools, hospitals, business places, at special events, conferences, conventions, reunions and various other events. The lanyard can serve the additional purpose of preventing the loss or misplacement of the object attached to it. A lanyard can be a promotional tool as well.

 In schools and colleges, lanyards are usually used to attach identity cards. The purpose is self evident – to establish the identity of the student. This will prevent unnecessary delays at the entry point, which are usually manned by personnel appointed for the purpose of preventing entry of unwanted persons.

 Also in case of kids, it will establish the identity and address of the kid and will be extremely if the kid is lost and is not able to state his name and other details by himself. While all lanyards have almost similar characteristics, in case of a school lanyard these features will have to be more pronounced and the manufacturer will have to consider them.

 A lanyard designed for kids will have to be strong and tough as well as soft. This is so because kids play a lot and therefore the lanyard is likely to be damaged. The softness will be required to protect kids from the possible abrasion injuries. Furthermore the attachment should be such that it does not have any sharp edges as kids will not be particularly careful when dealing with it. Also it should not be easily detached from the cord lest the badge be lost by the kid.     

 A latch key kid is one who is left unsupervised while his parents are away at work. The child will have to let himself into the house after school before his parents arrive. A lanyard allows the kid to easily keep his key without losing it.
